1. Seller
These General Terms and Conditions of Sale (the “Terms”) are issued by Prasanna Deshapriya Jasinghege Don, a French sole trader (entrepreneur individuel), trading as Akuru Language Academy and operating the Pransha Akuru programme.
- Professional address: 8 bis rue Abel, 75012 Paris, France
- Email: admin@akuru.fr
- SIREN: 130 179 286
- Establishment SIRET: 130 179 286 00013
- APE code: 8559B — Other education
- Intra-Community VAT number: not assigned as of the effective date
Akuru Language Academy and Pransha Akuru are trading names of the same sole-trader business, not separate companies.
2. Scope and acceptance
These Terms govern consumer purchases of scheduled live online French courses made through this website or its checkout. They do not govern any optional Skool community membership: we only provide a link to the Skool community page, and Skool sells, processes and administers that separate membership and its payment.
The Customer is an individual purchasing outside their trade, business, craft or profession. The Customer accepts the Terms by selecting the unchecked acceptance box before checkout. The version presented at the time of the order applies to that order.
3. Services and course information
Speak French Confidently is an eight-week live online programme for Sinhala-speaking adults with basic French knowledge, approximately A1–A2. It is not intended for complete beginners.
Unless the course page states otherwise, a group (cohort) includes:
- 16 live Zoom sessions over eight weeks;
- two sessions per week;
- 1.5 hours per session and 24 teaching hours in total;
- speaking, listening and pronunciation practice;
- lesson recordings where technically and legally possible;
- course materials and a Pransha Akuru Skool learning space; and
- explanations adapted for Sinhala-speaking learners.
The course page and checkout determine the exact group (cohort), dates, teacher, schedule, Paris time zone, class size, access period and inclusions.
4. Available group (cohort) formats
| Offer | Schedule | Maximum | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Morning Group | Tuesday and Thursday, 09:00–10:30 Paris time | 12 learners | €150 |
| Evening Group | Tuesday and Thursday, 18:00–19:30 Paris time | 12 learners | €150 |
| Premium Group | Monday and Wednesday, 18:00–19:30 Paris time | 6 learners | €250 |
The applicable course page and checkout confirmation prevail. The actual start date is displayed before payment.
5. Skool community access
Where stated in the course description, the fee includes course-related access to the Pransha Akuru Skool learning space for the period shown at checkout. Any optional Skool community membership is sold, paid for and administered directly by Skool under Skool’s own contract, pricing, billing, cancellation process, terms and privacy policy. Akuru Language Academy does not sell that membership, collect its payment or control its billing.
6. Prices and taxes
Prices are displayed in euros. The total payable amount, including applicable taxes and compulsory charges, is shown before the order. No paid option is added without express consent. The applicable VAT treatment appears on the checkout and invoice.
7. Ordering process and payment
Before ordering, the Customer can review the course, group (cohort), schedule, price and personal information and correct errors. The Customer must actively accept these Terms and any separate early-performance request that applies.
The final order control must clearly communicate an obligation to pay. Card payments are processed through the payment services displayed at checkout. Payment is confirmed only after server-side verification; an abandoned, refused or failed payment does not confirm enrolment.
8. Contract confirmation and invoices
After successful payment, confirmation is sent to the supplied email address. It includes the essential course information, price, payment status, dates or access information, these Terms, withdrawal information and the model withdrawal form on a durable medium. An invoice is issued under applicable French rules.
9. Course access and technical requirements
The Customer needs a suitable device, reliable internet connection, email address and the ability to use Zoom with audio. The Customer is responsible for checking time-zone differences and maintaining compatible equipment and connectivity. This does not exclude rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.
10. Attendance, recordings and missed sessions
The Customer is responsible for attending scheduled sessions. Missing a session, joining late or choosing not to use available materials does not normally create a commercial refund right.
Recordings are included only where stated and technically and legally possible. Recordings, presentations, lesson materials and other Akuru Language Academy teaching content are protected by intellectual-property rights and supplied for authorised participants’ personal learning. They must not be copied, edited, republished, sold, publicly displayed or shared without prior written permission. Participant image, voice, chat and contributions remain subject to the participant’s own rights.
11. Right of withdrawal
A consumer generally has a 14-calendar-day right of withdrawal for a distance service contract, starting on the day after the contract is concluded, unless a lawful exception applies.
The Customer may withdraw by sending an unambiguous statement to admin@akuru.fr, including their name, order number, course and ordering email, or by using the model form below. No reason is required.
Where withdrawal is valid, reimbursement is made without undue delay and no later than 14 days after we are informed, using the same payment method unless another method is expressly agreed without additional cost.
11.1 When the scheduled course starts during the withdrawal period
This section does not allow the Customer to change advertised course dates or request an earlier schedule. It applies only when the scheduled course, access or another part of the service begins within 14 days after the contract is concluded.
The Customer may expressly request that the service begin on its scheduled date before the withdrawal period ends. If the Customer then withdraws before the 14-day period expires, the Customer may have to pay a proportionate amount for sessions, access or other services already supplied. The remaining amount will be reimbursed.
The withdrawal right is lost because of performance only if the service has been fully performed and the legally required prior express consent and acknowledgement were obtained. Immediately supplied digital content may require separate consent. A blanket waiver is invalid.
12. Commercial cancellation and refund policy
These commercial terms apply after the statutory withdrawal right has expired and do not limit mandatory legal remedies.
12.1 How to cancel
Email admin@akuru.fr with the order number. The effective date is the date the request is received.
12.2 At least 14 calendar days before the first session
The Customer may choose a full refund or transfer of the amount paid to another available group (cohort) beginning within 12 months.
12.3 Between 7 and 13 calendar days before the first session
The Customer may choose a refund of 50% of the course price or one transfer to another available group (cohort) beginning within 12 months, subject to availability.
12.4 Fewer than 7 calendar days before the first session or after the course begins
No commercial refund is normally provided. At our discretion, one transfer may be allowed for documented serious illness, bereavement or a comparable exceptional circumstance. Mandatory rights remain unaffected.
Transfers are personal, may be used once, have no cash value and depend on available places and any price difference.
13. Changes, postponement or cancellation by Akuru Language Academy
We may make reasonable non-material changes, such as replacing a teacher with a suitably qualified teacher, changing a meeting link or rescheduling a session with reasonable notice.
If we cancel an entire course, the Customer may choose a full refund or transfer. A cancelled session will normally be rescheduled or replaced. A material change that substantially deprives the Customer of the purchased service may entitle them to an appropriate refund for the undelivered portion. If a disclosed minimum-enrolment condition is not reached, we may postpone or cancel the group and offer the same refund or transfer choice.
14. Complaints and consumer mediation
First send a written complaint to admin@akuru.fr. If it remains unresolved, an eligible consumer may use the appointed mediator free of charge:
Société Médiation Professionnelle (SMP)

15. Personal data and cookies
See the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. Marketing consent is never required to buy a course.
16. Intellectual property and prohibited conduct
The Customer receives a limited, personal, non-transferable right to access the purchased service and included materials for the stated period. Account sharing, resale, scraping, recording other participants without permission and distributing course content are prohibited. Access may be suspended for fraud, unlawful conduct, serious harassment, unauthorised sharing or serious breach, subject to mandatory consumer rights.
17. Force majeure
Neither party is liable for failure caused by an event meeting the legal conditions of force majeure. We will notify the Customer and offer a lawful and proportionate solution, such as rescheduling, replacement or refund for undelivered services.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by French law. A consumer retains mandatory protection in their country of habitual residence and may bring a claim before any court having jurisdiction under applicable law.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms for future orders. The version available before the Customer orders applies to that order. Changes do not retroactively remove rights already granted by law or contract.
